Cause

Canuck Place Children’s Hospice is the leading provider of pediatric palliative care in British Columbia and the Yukon. Serving over 818 children with life-threatening illnesses and their families across five provincial health regions, Canuck Place offers compassionate inpatient and community care, whether at home, in the hospital, or at the hospice.

The Why? Born on January 20, 2021, Alejandro Andres Quinn Angel - lovingly known as Alejo - came into our lives like a ray of sunshine. Just days after birth, his parents learned he had Malignant Rhabdoid Tumors, an extremely rare and aggressive childhood cancer. Doctors shared the devastating news that the cancer was in every cell of his body, and his chance of survival was very low. Alejo spent just five weeks on this earth, but in that short time, he filled his family’s world with love. He passed away peacefully at home on February 25, 2021, surrounded by those who loved him.

Canuck Place Children's Hospice was there from the very first oncology meeting through Alejo’s final moments, and continues to support his parents with grief counselling. They describe Canuck Place as “the most amazing organization you never want to have to use - but when you need them, you are so thankful they are there.

Last year, the Whisky Wisemen Society Golf Tournament donated $50,000 to Canuck place, this year, our goal is to reach $75,000. 100% of proceeds from the ball drop raffle will go to Canuck Place!
